Canada has long been considered one of the best countries in the world in which to grow up. Sara Austin, the Founder and CEO of CHILDREN FIRST CANADA has helped to shape Canada’s public policies for children and she is a dedicated advocate for all children in this country. It is not enough to say that children are our future. Sara believes the Government of Canada needs to establish a federal Commission for Children and Youth which would collaborate with and complement the work of the Prime Minister’s Youth Council and other measures that currently exist to improve the lives of young people. This past Monday morning, Alex Irish and Laurie McGill had the opportunity to meet Sara and one of her Advisory Board members, Mary Jo Haddad, at a breakfast meeting held at Kerr Street Cafe. They were impressed by Sara’s bold and ambitious vision to make Canada the best place in the world for kids to grow up and thrive in. Sara’s commitment to children has earned her recognition as one of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women of Canada.
