Built between 2003 and 2012, on the former site of the Richview Golf Course, the boundaries of this picturesque community are Dundas Street to the north, Bronte Road to the east, Upper Middle Road to the south and Bronte Creek, which straddles the Burlington/Oakville border, to the west.
Bronte Creek is comprised of single detached homes, townhouses and bungalofts, interspersed with mature woodlots and valleys. This community attracts both first time home buyers, young families and those who wish to downsize. For the 12 months leading up to December 2017, the average sold price of a single detached home for was approximately $1,400,000, with an average of 17 days on the market. Townhouses averaged approximately $870,000 with an average of 18 days on the market.
The Village of Palermo, one of Oakville’s original remaining villages that has been referenced back to 1841, is considered part of Bronte Creek. According to the Oakville Historical Society, there are many places in Halton whose names are a reference to Lord Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) as Lord Bronte was one of his titles and he met his wife, Lady Hamilton, in Palermo, Italy.
Residents love the proximity to Bronte Creek Provincial Park which offers five great hiking trails showcasing the beauty of the area, a children’s barn with live farm animals, a 1.5 acre outdoor swimming pool, a disc golf course and the quaint Spruce Lane Farm House, circa 1899. In the winter months the outdoor pool converts to a skating rink and the trails are ideal for cross country skiing. Also offered are excellent interpretive programs including a Maple Syrup Festival in March, Ghost Walks in August and a Homestead Christmas in December.
In March 2017, the Government of Ontario announced that is would be protecting 514 hectares of provincially owned land near Bronte Creek Provincial Park. This greenbelt link between the park and the Niagara Escarpment is a habitat for wildlife and the water source for many creeks.
Bronte Creek has an ideal location for commuters as it is just south of highway 407 and north of the QEW. The relatively new Oakville Trafalgar Hospital is a 10 minute drive away. Golfers will love teeing it up at RattleSnake Point Golf Club, a short drive north on Bronte Road. It offers two 18 hole courses as well as an academy course.
Bronte Creek has a Resident’s Association that is focused on improving and enhancing the community. It has a website that is both informative and interactive, reflecting a close knit and safe neighbourhood.
