Established in 1983 Glen Abbey offers a variety of mature neighbourhoods and homes ranging from small townhomes, condominium apartments, large detached homes to large estate type homes in Fairway Hills, an exclusive enclave, backing onto the Glen Abbey Golf Club. Considered to be the relocation capital, Glen Abbey includes exceptional schools and is home to Abbey Park High School and St. Ignatius of Loyola Secondary School. Also located in Glen Abbey are two Dorval Plaza’s and a multitude of big box stores. Glen Abbey is bounded by the Upper Middle Road to the North, 16 Mile Creeks to the East, the QEW to the South and Bronte Road to the West. There is easy access to both the QEW and Go Transit for commuters.
The Glen Abbey Community is very fortunate to have over 100 kms of trails that includes the Glen Abbey Trail, McCraney Creek Trails, Old Abbey Trails, Indian Ridge Trail and 14 Mile Creeks. One of the special features to this trail system is that it connects all the creeks, woodlots and active parks. This allows for residents to walk, ride and bike throughout the whole community.
Whether you are looking to pick up some fresh bread, hot dinner for the family after a busy day or need to cater an event, Monestary Bakery is the place you to go. This family owned bakery since 1990 has become a regular storefront business for many people both far and near. Monestary Bakery has grown from a small retail space to taking up the entire strip mall and evolved from a bakery to something remarkable you don’t want to miss.
Glen Abbey Community Centre and Glen Abbey Branch Library can be found in one easy location at 3rd Line and Upper Middle Road. The centre has everything to offer its residents from young to old, individual and families. It has a full-service library, two ice rinks, a fitness centre, four squash courts, a swimming pool with a sauna and a water slide, three community rooms and a gymnasium. The facilities are available for recreational use, lessons, camps, leagues and rentals. In addition to this the Oakville Gymnastics Club, lead by award winning coaches can be found at this facility. OGC is a non-for-profit club that strives to provide exceptional instruction to children and youth at all levels of fitness. They offer both recreational and competitive programs in several different gymnastic disciplines as well as camp and adult programs.
Abbey Animal Hospital was purchased in 1988 by one of its current partners with very little equipment or client information and has now expanded, re-modeled and added new technology to help meet the growing needs of their patients. They now have a full complement of veterinary and support staff and each of these staff members bring with them specific areas of expertise that make the service they offer holistic and progressive.
The Iconic Glen Abbey Gold Club welcomes both the public and its members to enjoy their facilities. It has hosted the RBC Canadian Open, a PGA Tour event and Canada’s National Open countless times. Take a virtual tour through their spectacular facilities that include The Canadian Gold Museum and Hall of Fame.
