Centrally located in North Oakville, River Oaks bordering on the east side of Sixteen Mile Creek, spreading west to Trafalgar Road and south to Upper Middle Road. Established in 1980’s, River Oaks is a mix of detached homes, townhomes and high-rise condos. Being Oakville’s uptown core, River Oaks is home to many restaurants, retail and big box stores like Walmart and The Real Canadian Superstore. Perhaps one of the characteristics of River Oaks homes that stands out most is the Carriage style Home, with the garage detached from the home and located to the back. This style of home encourages more space between the houses (divided by driveways), and less cars on the street (because the garages are to the back).
At the core of River Oaks is Oak Park. Oak Park is a densely populated neighborhood of some detached homes, but primarily semi-detached, low rise and high-rise apartments which were all constructed within the last decade.
Lifestyle is important in the River Oaks community which is well known for its abundance of walking and biking trails known as the Oakville Heritage Trail, throughout the community and along the east side of 16 Mile Creek. With plenty of parks and green-space River Oaks is perfect for young families. The River Oaks Community Centre located in the heart of the River Oaks community also contributes to this lifestyle component with convenient access to Hockey, Figure Skating, and Fitness facilities.
